This movie is so bad that it baffles me how they decided they should screen it. There is not a single redeemable quality about it. And Ian McDiarmid was so utterly wasted that it is an insult to his previous work as Palpatine.
I am dissapointed.

Just watched a preview or "local European Premiere. really enjoyed the film.
I feel that this movie makes better use of the characters we have collectively rooted for an loved for decades, than Episode VIII.
There are some plot twists, emotional moments & character developments which I won't spoil here, but they added some depth to the story. Fewer moments which felt like replication of the older movies (as in Episode VIII) but still capturing some of the "essence" of Star Wars.
The new characters now have enough depth and back story to make them interesting protagonists for another trilogy in the future? At least I hope so.

When I read the scrawl I knew I'd have a bad feeling about the rest of the movie. 😒.
It's not George Lucas' vision. The main crew doesn't have the same chemistry has the original one. It has some loose ends. br>
This why it doesn't deserve 10/10.
It's the first (on the new trilogy) with a proper original story. TFA was like a remake of ANH and TLJ was a mix of moments of ROTJ and TESB. This one has its own idea, and it's a good one.
We can argue about some loose ends, for sure. But the story doesn't fail our expectations, it respects SW heritage and conflicts (the main one, the inner conflict to go down a dark path.
It's frantic and has amazing battles, fine light saber duels, it gives Rey a solid background.
There is a lot to like.
Forget about most reviews and enjoy.
None of the moments which were supposed to be epic touched me. And the storytellers often resort to letting the characters explain the plot twist to the audience. Show us - don't tell us.
The Sith threat never seemed real. I would go so far to say that the Sith order seemed more threating in ep. 2.
Way to many one-liners. You need to apply that with care!
And soooo many supporting actors which get way too much screen time. And what is up with the cameos!
And gone all the exalted jedi moments. It is not enough to let Rey float around in lotus pose to make for an exalted jedi moment. You are conpeting with master Yoda coaching Luke and giving epic advice in odd semantics!
The fighting scenes were uninspired... Both the light saber fights and the space battles.
